We believe in keeping things clear, simple, and fair. These Terms of Service explain how our telecare rental service works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you in return. We’ve written them to be as straightforward as possible so you can feel confident and informed from the very beginning.

Terms of Service

Effective Date: 26th March 2025

These Terms of Service set out the agreement between you (the customer) and Safeguard Technologies Ltd., a UK-based business providing telecare products and services.

By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms outlined below.

  • A monthly rental charge
  • Local delivery, professional installation, and demonstration
  • 24/7 monitoring via an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) provided by Taking Care

All devices remain the property of Safeguard Technologies Ltd. and are rented to the customer for personal use only.

2. Setup Fee

  • A non-refundable setup fee is charged at the time of order.

  • This fee covers delivery, installation, setup, and a full demonstration of the equipment.

  • The fee is payable regardless of whether the customer later decides to cancel or return the device.

3. Monthly Rental

  • The monthly rental is charged in advance, starting from the day of installation.
  • If the customer is dissatisfied with the device for any reason, they can cancel the contact with us within 14 days of installation date. The monthly charge will be refunded and the service cancelled.

  • After the initial term, the agreement continues on a rolling monthly basis, with a one-month cancellation notice required.

4. Ownership and Use of Equipment

  • Safeguard Technologies retains ownership of all devices supplied as part of your service agreement. If your contract ends or is cancelled, you are required to return the device to us within 14 days.
  • If the device is not returned, a non-return fee of £150 will apply. If the device is returned but found to be damaged beyond reasonable wear and tear, a damage fee of £75 may apply.
  • Devices are rented for individual use only and must not be transferred between people.
  • You must not tamper with, dismantle, or modify the device. A fair usage policy applies.
  • If the device is lost or stolen, you must notify us immediately. A replacement fee of £150 may apply.
  • You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the device. Any issues with the device should be reported as soon as possible so we can support you or arrange a replacement if necessary.
  •

5. ARC Monitoring Service

  • All customers are connected to a UK-based 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), provided by Taking Care.

8. Limitation of Liability

While Safeguard Technologies Ltd. aims to provide a high-quality and reliable service, we do not accept liability for:

  • Interruptions, outages, or downtime affecting the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) service
  • Failures caused by mobile network signal issues, coverage limitations, or SIM connectivity
  • Delays or failures in emergency response where handled by third-party services, including but not limited to emergency services
  • Any injury, loss, damage, or costs arising from misuse, tampering, or improper use of the device
  • Events or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including force majeure events (e.g. natural disasters, power outages, national emergencies)

In any event, Safeguard Technologies Ltd.’s total liability shall be limited to the total rental fees paid by the customer in the three-month period immediately preceding the date of any claim.

9. Device Demonstration and Selection

Safeguard Technologies Ltd. provides demonstrations of various telecare devices to inform customers about available options. These demonstrations are for informational purposes only and do not constitute recommendations or endorsements of any specific device. Customers are encouraged to assess and select the device that best meets their individual needs.

10. Network Call Charges and Restrictions

You acknowledge that the dial-in / alert calls made via the StaySafe devices or any telecare service may incur telecommunication charges (currently up to £0.40 per minute or part thereof) depending on your network provider. Some mobile or landline networks may treat these as “out-of-bundle” calls, which could incur additional fees or be blocked entirely.

Safeguard Technologies Ltd. is not responsible for any extra charges or call restrictions imposed by your mobile or telecom provider. You should check with your provider whether such calls are allowed, and at what cost, before relying on the service.

If your network blocks or restricts such calls, this may impair or prevent the functionality of the service, and we cannot guarantee operation under those conditions.
