Safeguard Community Watch Pilot
Understanding How Personal Safety Technology Can Support Real People in Everyday Life
Help Shape the Future of Independent Living Technology
Are you an active person who would benefit from extra reassurance while out and about?
Safeguard Technologies is looking for a small number of local people to take part in our new Community Watch Pilot.
Participants will receive a free StaySafe Compact Watch and support package for three months in return for sharing their experiences and feedback.
This is not a sales programme.
We want to learn how people really feel about using personal safety technology in everyday life. By taking part, you’ll help us better understand the challenges, concerns and barriers people face when considering this type of technology.

What's Included
- A free StaySafe Compact Watch for three months
- SOS assistance at the touch of a button from either Friends & Family r 24/7 Emergency Response Centre support
- Fall detection
- GPS location support
- Medication reminders & Messaging
- Family location App
- Local Isle of Wight support from the Safeguard team
Participation is completely free, with no obligation to continue after the pilot period. We simply ask participants to use the watch as part of everyday life and share their experiences with us. At the end of the three months, the watch can be returned with no further commitment, or participants can choose to discuss continuing the service if they feel it has been beneficial.
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who:
- Are mobile and active within their community
- Live independently or spend time alone
- Have experienced falls or worries about falling
- Have early-stage dementia or memory concerns
- Have mild learning difficulties or additional support needs
- Feel they would benefit from extra reassurance when out and about
- Have family members who would appreciate additional peace of mind
You do not need to have previous experience with personal alarms or safety devices.
What Will Participants Do?
- Wear the StaySafe Compact Watch as part of everyday life
- Tell us how easy it is to use
- Share feedback from friends, family and peers
- Take part in a short monthly discussion group
- Help us understand the concerns and barriers people face when considering this type of technology
Why Are We Running This Pilot?
We know that technology can help people remain independent for longer.
What we don’t always know is:
- What worries people about wearing it
- What questions people have
- What makes people feel comfortable or uncomfortable
- What support they need to use it confidently
- How friends, family and community groups react to it
Places Are Limited
This is a small pilot programme and places are limited.
Applications will be reviewed and participants selected based on suitability, circumstances and the feedback they can help provide. Our aim is to include a range of people with different experiences and backgrounds so that we can gather meaningful insights.
Unfortunately, we may not be able to offer a place to everyone who applies.
